Simon and Schuster celebrates Comic Con

This week's sponsor is Simon and Schuster, celebrating Comic Con by letting you know about their wide range of graphic novels. Stop by booth 1017 and see them in person! Don't forget to tell them we sent you.

Large Print for Book Stores and Comic Shops

This is the third of three longish posts about our newest collection Large Print. The first was aimed at our readers and the second at libraries. This one is aimed at owners of book stores and comic shops.

Over the years we've heard from many of you that Unshelved books do really well as a hand sell to your best customers: book nerds. Print out some of your favorite strips and post them around your store. Then tell them where they can get more.

But we've also heard feedback that our previous books were a little too big, a little too pricey, and a little too schizophrenic. So we made this one smaller, less expensive, and dropped the Unshelved Book Club strips. When we debuted our book at ALA last month we saw the results - first-time buyers snapped them up in droves, and many of them ended up coming back for our previous volumes.

We invite you to see what Large Print: an Unshelved collection by Gene Ambaum & Bill Barnes can do for you. It's available directly from our distributor Ingram Publisher Services or via most wholesalers, ISBN 978-0-9740353-7-6.

Walking in the Pacific NW

Tyler Burgess and I have two things in common. One is her daughter, my wife Sara. The other is that we both self-publish books. And that is where things diverge again, because while mine contain comic strips, hers contain maps. Specifically, hand-drawn walking maps of Seattle, Eugene, and Oregon. Tyler makes a living telling people where and how to walk, and these books are an outgrowth of her passion for going for an old-fashioned healthy stroll. Her three books are perfect for both residents and tourists and I recommend them in the most biased possible way.
